VirtueMart Shoppers and Shopper Groups
Registered users, clients who have already made the purchase and visitors that came accros your shop for the first time are all gathered under one name - VirtueMart shoppers.
Depending on your site configuration they can either create a user account without buying anything or the account will be created automatically when first order is placed.
You as store owner can create VirtueMart shopper groups and assign them to registered users or create one for non-registered visitors.
Why you might need assign shoppers to shopper group? You might say that it requires too much time to spend? Just think on the benefits. With shopper groups you have the possibility to offer different products or prices to different users.

VirtueMart shopper group
You can create shopper groups in Store Manager if you select “Store” tab of application’s ribbon menu and there select option “Shopper Groups”. In new window opened you will see that information can be viewed and managed in the tabs of lower grid. This way there is no need to open additional windows, as switching between goods you will be able to adjust what should be altered. Moreover, in main menu you will see options available for VirtueMart shopper group management.
The following possibilities are at your disposal:
- add new shopper group;
- edit already existing one;
- delete client groups;
- set shopper group as default
- make it visible/not visible for clients
- export shoppers-related information to the files of .txt, .csv, .html, .xml format.
The same-name section allows you to manage information on clients, including the possibility to assign them to customer groups. Basically, the logics is the same - the fields of lower grid contain data that can be edited. Main menu in its turn allows to find, modify, send mail, generated report on best clients, export customer-related details, run custom SQLs to show information about selected shoppers or products purchased by them and also remove shoppers if necessary.
Now what you can benefit from having customers groups created at your disposal?
First of all, you can make certain goods available only for predefined users groups only. So for example, Gold member users will have access to some limited-edition goods.
Secondly, you can create discount on each products at your shop for members of certain group.
Finally, create special reduced price for one products for users from definite group.
From marketing perspective, VirtueMart shoppers and shopper groups are very useful and interesting feature allowing you make shoppers’ experience more positive and get loyal client-base by means of attractive prices, special products, newsletters, community events and other actions.
